How to insert a symbols based off another cell

I am trying to have the check symbol inserted into the credit receive cell if credit memo date contains a date. What formula would I use?

Try something like this.

=IF([Credit Memo Date]@row = "", "", IF(ISDATE([Credit Memo Date]@row), "Yes", "Hold"))

This can be put in the column you want the checkbox and make it a symbol column

=IF(ISDATE([Credit Memo Date]@row), "Yes", "Hold")

Thanks that worked but If its blank I don't want a symbol in the row
