Reports by multiple dropdown selections
I have a project loading smartsheet where I list all the projects being worked on and also backlogged projects. When a project is staffed I add the name of the person to the row. If the project is staffed by multiple people I add multiple names to the row entry... this works well and looks nice. However I am trying to do a report by individual and would assume the report would let me show what each person is working on even if a shared line in the smartsheet since i selected two or more individuals but this is not working or allowing me to do it this way. It seems the report should duplicate or replicate that line easily and bins under each user.

Hi @miikerom,
In your Report's filter criteria, instead of using "equals" on the column where people are assigned, trying using "has any of" and select the user from the list.
Then even if multiple people are assigned in that column, as long as one of them is the one you're looking for, the row will be returned in the report to list their projects.
The row will be returned in the report(s) created for the other user(s) in the assignee column as well.

It is more in the grouping where the problem is. I am not able to select the column with the multiple selection in it. I want the report to show each person as a "bucket" to see what they are allocated to so grouping is the right place but no option... understand? Am I missing something with the filtering though?

Ray Lindstrom hoping you saw this and I am just setting this up incorrectly. Happy holidays, no rush on the response.

Hi @miikerom,
You're not missing anything.
I thought you were trying to run a report for a specific user. Instead you're trying to run a report for all users, grouped by user.
That is only possible when your contact list column is set to have only one value assigned. When you allow multiple values assigned to a contact list type of column, you lose the ability to group by that column.

Thanks Ray. Do you thing Smartsheet would be inclined to add this feature? It doesn't seem that hard (just need to replicate rows for each user listed)? It would be highly valuable...

Hi @miikerom,
Not sure if this is something they would consider. It's always worth submitting an enhancement request.
You can do that here. https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/739aa75f30ca43a8a22eb53e4da7d409?_ga=2.87665119.650799023.1672760098-1134018050.1626726746
All the best,
