Create cross sheet references to work with data in another sheet

I have five individual columns that I would like to cross-reference with another sheet on Smartsheet to get specific information. For example,

In Smartsheet A: I'm collecting data on when front-line staff call in absent, each employee can get a drop-down menu to get to the specifics of why they're unable to attend work.

Smartsheet B: Using employee numbers in each row, I would like to do a countif formula to gather the data from Smartsheet A and put a number value in the box.
