If i have a drop down "n Progress" and "Complete" can I do a timestamp in a new column when Complete is selected?

Ok. Then you can use a Workflow combined with the Record a date Action to register the date.

Would that work?

yes. I had to change the column from a multi select. It worked! thank you.
