Is there a way to add a contact group to the dropdown list in a contact list column?
Not unless your contact group has its own email address as is the case in many google products. Smartsheets itself currently only allows one email per contact column. Groups is not currently an option from within smartsheets.
But it should be. Please submit an Enhancement Request:

I agree - it should be! I can import a contact group and name it but I can't load that same group into the contact column - are you kidding? Seems like an easy win...
I've submitted an enhancement request as well. This will be a critical part during our evaluation to continue to use Smartsheet as it has made the management of our sheets untenable with a team of 100+.
was this ever resolved? I am looking to have a drop down contact list in a form as well.
Hi @Thomas Hoag,
It’s possible to have a contact list, but not groups.
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment
I hope that helps!

Added my enhancement request for this option. Would resolve a lot of issues when selecting contacts on forms and sheets, including maintenance of the lists.
New to Smartsheets and struggling with this same challenge. Is there a solution to this now that did not appear to exist a couple years ago when this conversation took place?
Need help: We are using an approval request automation where we would like to incorporate a SharePoint link rather than a file attachment to the request. We have a sheet column with the hyperlink, but it does not show up in the approval email or it shows up as a LONG URL. Needs to function both from desktop computer as…
I am the owner of a workspace that has multiple sheets and a dashboard. There are 3 Guests with Admin permissions for the whole workspace. They can edit the sheets, but not the dashboard. Is there a different type of permissions or some kind of limitations to dashboard editing for Guests?
I am looking at trying to build a multi-select option raffle form. Lets say a form user has 5 options or "tickets" they can put into a bucket of goods for a raffle. I would like for the user to put in any combination of entering tickets per good that they can with the five tickets they have. I will put in a picture of what…
