Copy/Paste Cell linking

I am trying to use the paste special option to link a cell but the "Links to copied cells" radio button is grayed out. I've tried this on multiple sheets, and it still will not give me the option.

Are you staying on the same tab?

There seems to be an issue at the moment to copy outside the same tab.

I'm actually having a similar issue. I've looked around the community, and what I want to do seems to be possible, but I am getting the option to special paste completely greyed out.

Scenario:

I have two sheets (one project, the other is either a task list of just a grid). I am copying a date that is in the task list/grid, and then going back to my project and attempting to Paste Special in to a start date. When I do this, the Paste Special option is greyed out (see attached). Both cells are configured as "dates".

I have no problems going through the Link from Cell in Other Sheet option from my project (you can see that I have linked for other dates using this method in the screenshot).

I am doing this within different tabs within the same Google Chrome window.

Any ideas?

Hi Andree,

I know that's how Smartsheet used to work, but I'm not sure I know how to open a new tab within Smartsheet (within the same Google Chrome tab).

Hi Ciaran,

Unfortunately, you must open the other sheet in the same tab by either going back in the browser (if you were in that sheet previously) or selecting the sheet in the left panel in Smartsheet. The important thing is that you need to keep the sheets in the same tab and not open in another tab.

It does not seem to be working even in the same sheet. Trying to copy the link in the cell on line 45 to line 48 and the "links to copied cells is grayed out".

There seems to be an issue "at the moment"? Your wording implies that this is NOT intended behavior, which would mean that it is a bug or similar.

Wow.... That was 3 years ago and the issue is still present.

So....what is smartsheet doing to address the issue? Paying customers want to know.....

Do they even read these?
