I am new to Smartsheet and having problems setting up multiple approvals. I need to have: Approved, Approved - Needs More Info, Not Approved. I am struggling to get the Approved - Needs More Info be an option
Unfortunately as far as I'm aware you can only have the two options of Approved or Denied when setting up a Request and Approval Workflow. If you are looking to have a third option you may want to consider creating a Request an Update Workflow instead.
- Create a column titled "[Your Department/Person approving] Approval" as a single select dropdown option and add the three choices.
- Create the Request an update Workflow and title it accordingly. Customize the message to something along the lines of "Approval for {{Column Name}}" (hint adding the {{}} and putting in a column name actually sends the information in that row in the alert). Click the menu on the top right of the Request and Update and select "Advanced Options". Select only the information you wish them to see.
That's it for the basics. If you want to you can add locking rows if approved, alerts when not approved, etc.
I built one out so you could see
Instead of using an Approval Automation, set the column as a dropdown type, enter your options, then have an Update request sent out instead.

I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend!

I have a picture below for an example of this. I want to create a formula to get counts of items in "Column2", but if "Column4" states "change" I want the "Column2" count to not work and instead count what is it "Column3" in that given row. Column4 can also have several different things in it besides "good" that I want it…
I've done this a million times - create a report, separated by campus with a total $$. Then add it to a dashboard and make a graph. NOTHING is working right now when I try to do this. I get an error that the data cannot be charted. What the what? Help anyone? Is this a issue since they apparently changed something in the…
