Daily report not updating

Hello Smartsheet community,

We are currently facing an issue with our daily reports intended to check which deliverables are late.

We have a structure with several dashboard for project follow-up, in which we have a deliverable sheet with due dates. Inside of it, we have a formula comparing the TODAY and the due date to flag which deliverable is late. We are then using this indicator in a report to collect all late deliverables. The problem is, we are facing issue with the updates of those report on a daily basis. Everyday, the indicator is changing and if we are not saving each deliverable sheet one by one everyday, the information in the report is not updated so late deliverables are not showing.

Is there a way to solve the issue avoiding having to go save each sheet everyday?

Hello Ben,

Quick feedback on my final solution on this. I've tested the Zapier method but it was not practical for our case since we have too many sheets concerned. However we spent time to add a "master sheet" which include only the TODAY() date that is saved everyday and we cascadated this date to everysheets impacted. We first tried to just linking one cell with the one in the mastersheet but it was not working for TODAY() updates, so we are now updating all the cells directly by changing all our formulas with the this date saved everyday. The great thing with that is this solution can be repeated for any new project we will have in future.

Hi @Jeremy RENAUDIN,

As you found, in order for the TODAY function to recognize today's date on a sheet and update accordingly, the sheet must be opened and saved. I highly recommend Submitting a Product Enhancement Request to see if we can get something implemented in a future release that could perform a refresh on the backend to update date-based functions.

Hello Ben,

Thanks for your reply, that made me realizing the issue was on the TODAY() function itself as you mentioned and I've pushed my researches in that way. Your link is really helpful and I'll try to set up something today to test it during the night. If that's not ideal, I might use another solution that I've seen consisting of having a sheet dedicated for the today's date to be linked to all the sheets that are using it. I've understood that refreshing there will cascade to all the concerned sheet so it'll work too, it'll depend on both usage.

In any case, as advised I'll submit a Product Enhancement Request.
