After quite some tinkering with formulas, I've managed to create a burndown chart on my own, but I kinda struggled as to where to put the required calculations. Using a separate "calculation spreadsheet" didn't work for me, because with every change in the project plan, I need to open that separate spreadsheet, let it do its magic and save it again, so that the burndown chart updates itself. This became quite a nuisance.
Instead, I've integrated all calculations for my dashboard in the upper right corner of the project plan itself (see picture):
Then I used the "hide" function on the first few columns and implemented a filter to also get rid of the upper rows. This way, I only see the project plan and nothing else.
It works perfectly fine and updates itself - as intended - every time I save the project plan. No more additional spreadsheets for me. :-)
And the result looks OK to my stakeholders, too:

Dear Robert,
Have you been able to work with story points in you burnout charts? Or the base unit is #task where all tasks have the same value?
Thanks
Simon
