Undoing a sort and reverting to a sort rows by date

Hi!

We have a sheet with multiple editors. The first column is an auto generate "Created" column. One of the users sorted a different column and saved. When attempting to sort the created by column ascending so that it reverts to the rows being ordered in the sequential time order in which they were entered, it remains like that until someone else makes a change and saves. How can we ensure that the rows remain in date and time order on an ongoing basis (assuming no one else sorts another column). Thank you in advance.

You may want to double check the Activity Log as sheets should not be "automatically" sorting. If there is no indication of another user sorting the sheet after you did, and it still cam e up in a different order, you may need to reach out to support.

You could create a report and have the users edit that. The updates to the report will reflect in the sheet, but the sorting order of the report does not affect the sorting order of the sheet.

Thank you for the response Paul. Why can't we ensure that the sheet remains sorted by date and time created for good? Why does it revert to a different order even when users are not actively reordering rows? It was in proper order prior to the user sorting by a different column.

It is just how Smartsheet is built. When a sheet is sorted and saved, it stays in that order until it gets sorted again.

I sorted and saved it again according to the way we wanted it, but it only remained sorted that way temporarily. No one else sorted it since I sorted according to the display we want.
