Sorting By Created Date After Another Row is Sorted

Hi!

We have a sheet with multiple editors. The first column is an auto generate "Created" column. One of the users sorted a different column and saved. When attempting to sort the created by column ascending so that it reverts to the rows being ordered in the sequential time order in which they were entered, it remains like that until someone else makes a change and saves. How can we ensure that the rows remain in date and time order on an ongoing basis (assuming no one else sorts another column)? Thank you in advance.

@Mark Cronk HERE is the other post regarding this issue. We determined that Support would need to get looped in because it seems as if the sheet is doing some kind of "auto-sort" without user input.

Hi @Jonathan Dayan ,

All you can do is resort the sheet to the view you want. There isn't a default sort, although that would be a good enhancement request.

Using reports is one way to allow others to sort and change views without changing the underlying sheet. Working in reports allows the user to sort, group, filter and selectively include columns. Data edits populate the underlying sheet but view and sort changes have no impact. You can create as many reports as you need.

If you're license includes it, you can do the same and more with Dynamic View.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the insightful response. The primary issue is that no one else is actually sorting it after I sort it according it to the way we want it sorted. The rows, however, are still being reordered. Upon someone else's recommendation I have reached out to Support for this matter.
