Update Formula based on another field

Hello,

Is it possible to have formula referred to a text in another cell to refer to the column to be used in the formula?

Example: I have numbers of hours under each month column, against projects (e.g. ABC) in the rows. I have a metrics that sums up total numbers of hours per project for that month.

=SUMIF(Project:, "ABC", Jan:Jan)

Other than updating the Column reference in "Manage References", is there a way to have the formula easily updated for subsequent months? Can I insert the name of month somewhere to be used in the formula? Or any workaround?

I hope you're well and safe!

I'd recommend using the first row as a reference for the months. Add the month numbers and then reference them in the formula.

Pro-tip. If you want to reference it even easier, you can make the top row or any row a parent and reference the value using the PARENT function in the formula.

Don't get what you mean, any example? I don't have dates in any of the cells, else I could have used the @month method. Can you show me?
