Additional request is to exclude another name from the total.

To exclude one the following worked well:

=SUMIFS([Payment status]:[Payment status], Institution:Institution, <> "Stanford")

How will the formula look to exclude another "name" (Stanford & ICO)

Take a look at the second formula in this post! You should be able to exclude multiple values by using AND(@cell <> "Value", @cell <> "Value)
