Setting up a template, and associated reports, metrics sheets, etc.
I'd like to set up a template for a project plan, and when somebody grabs a template, they also get the associated reports and metrics sheets, for the NEW instance of the sheet generated from the template.
I know you can do this within the Smartsheet Control Center, but is there a way to do something similar without the SSCC?
Thanks.

I hope you're well and safe!
You could either add everything to a Folder or a Workspace and use that as the Template instead.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Andre, doing well, thanks. Is there such a thing as a template folder? I have a template for a project plan, then a report and a metrics sheet that has cross-sheet reference formulas that refer back to the project plan.
How do I ensure the links from the report and metrics sheets for the new project link back to the new plan, not the original sheet (upon which the template is based)? If I create a template folder, are the files contained within, and all the cross-sheets references correct?

Excellent!
If it's in a Folder or Workspace and you save it as new and ensure that you select the correct options, it will be connected between the new items.
Make sense?

Nice. I have been using Smartsheet for 12 years, and never knew you could do that!
I'll give it a go. Thanks again.

Andre, good day. I must be doing something wrong. I gather all my sheets (project plan, report and dashboard) in a new folder, select the folder, "Save as New".
I then enter new data in the new project plan, but the report and dashboard still reflect the data in the original folder.
What am I doing wrong? What am I missing?
You said to "ensure that you select the correct options". I don't see where I am given any options.
Do I need to save each of the contents of the origin folder as templates as well? I don't believe reports and dashboards can be template.
Help?
Thanks, Dennis

Happy to help!
It should be fine if you didn't change anything when you saved it as new.
You have to ensure that the Smartsheet Items you add to the Folder already is connected/linked to each other because otherwise, it won't work.
Make sense?
I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)

Andre, will share them with you shortly. Thanks!

Ok, shared.

Andree, any thoughts?

I have spoken to Smartsheet technical support, and they told me to just right click on the folder, and “Save as New”, which I’ve done. Unfortunately, while the intake sheet transferred, the report and dashboard still point back to the original files, and not the sheet in the new folder.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
