Decipher Sheet ID from Sheet Permalink
Is there any way to decipher the Sheet ID from the permalink for the sheet?
Scenario: Sheet automation triggers an alert to a User. Standard Smartsheet automation sends the sheet URL (permalink) in the body. Whenever that user receives the alert I want to trigger an API call back to Smartsheet but I need the Sheet ID for this call. However, the alert body text doesn't contain the Sheet ID.

Hi @Ramsay Zaki
What about using the trigger for the automation as the trigger for the API call, would that be possible?

Not sure I follow. Can you give me an example?

What sends the alert to your user?
For example, is it triggered based on a Date being reached, or a change in the sheet?
If it's a change in the sheet (e.g. Status changes to "Complete"), you could have a Webhook monitoring that sheet for that specific change. This way you would be able to tell what sheet the alert came from.
I will note that it sounds like using one of Smartsheet's Workflows in the UI may be a better way to update that sheet, so you don't need to use API. For example, if the Status changes to "Complete", you could have another workflow triggered by that change to update a different cell with a Change Cell workflow.
Cheers,
Genevieve
