Changing colour of a number in a cell
Hi, I'm trying conditional formatting to change the colour of a number in cell from black to red if the number is negative. It tried: "If ACTUALS (in the ACTUALS column which the cell is located) ARE LESS THAN $0, then apply BOLD and RED. But it didn't change the colour.
I tried: "Contains $- but nothing changed either.
Do you know of a solution?
Thank you,
Axel

Hi axelrodo
I hope you are doing well,
According to the condition, I would suggest creating a helper column and apply this formula
=IF(Number@row <= 0, "Negative", IF(Number@row > 0, "Positive", ""))
Now you can apply conditional formatting based on the helper column if the helper is equal to negative then the number is RED and BOLD.
I hope this is useful to you, Have a Good Day.
Thanks

Hi Andrée, see picture attached. I have a formula that calculates the difference between income and expenditure. I'd like the number, if negative, to show in red.

Hi Kaveri, I need to explore what a "helper column" is 😉. First time I hear about it. Ideally I'd like to avoid adding another column. But I'll see if that could be an option. Thank you.
