Exclude weekends and holidays from automation reminders
Hello,
Can we stop automation notifications triggered on weekends and holidays?
Thanks,

Hi @maltaee
I hope you're well and safe!
Try something like this.
- Add a checkbox helper column (You can name it Working Day)
- Add the following formula that will be checked if it's a Working Day and not a Non-Working Day, Weekend,/Holiday.
=NETWORKDAYS(TODAY(), TODAY(), Holidays:Holidays)
You can change the Holiday reference to another sheet with a cross-sheet reference or remove it completely if you add the Holidays to the Project Settings)
- Add a condition in the Workflow(s) to only trigger if the helper column above is checked.
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic weekend!

@maltaee stopping automations on weekends is easy enough if you add a column that calculates the day of the week everyday. You would add a condition to check for that on the automations.
For the holidays.. I'd have to think of there is an easier way than having some lookup sheet with the dates of holidays and column that would disable automations as a condition by checking if today is a holiday...

@maltaee I think I have an idea using the workday function, but I'll have to play with it next week to make sure it works like I think it will

Thank you, Darren and Andree.
My trigger date is two days after the requested date.
RE playing w/ project settings, is that feature only available with Gantt View? - I don't see it with Grid View and don't need dependencies enabled for this intake sheet.

Correct, you have to be in Gantt View and enable dependencies to enable those settings.

This is so helpful. I don't know if the workflow will check the next day when the reminder doesn't run on weekends.
