How can I make an Second update request TRIGGER a workflow?
Hello Everyone,
I have a multiple approval process which goes from Approver 1 then to Approver 2, and then to Approver 3.
The Approval process works okay for all the approvers. The decline process for Approver 1 works okay (When Approver 1 declines the request, an update request is sent to the requestor to make changes. based on the changes made, the workflow is triggered and a request for approval is resent to approver 1)
The decline process for Approver 2 is where I am having a challenge (When Approver 2 declines the request, an update request is sent to the requestor to make changes. Unfortunately, the workflow is not triggered on the second update request).
What can I do for Update Request 2 (As shown on the image) to trigger Request for Approval 2?
I have images of how the workflow looks like and how the trigger looks like.
Regards,
Pascale

@Pascale I would recommend limiting the trigger to one or two things and then taking advantage of the conditionals to cover the rest.

@Razetto Thank you for your feedback. Even if I limit my trigger, I still won't have a way to make the second update request affect the trigger.

Hi @Pascale
I tried the following steps, and they worked;
- Add a new column called APV Status.
- IF "Request an Approval 2"'s response is Decline, change the value to RQST2 DCL with the Change Cell Value action.
- When the Requestor changes the row and the Workflow is triggered, check the value of APV Status to trigger Request an Approval 2 instead of Request an Approval 1 if RQST2 DCL.
- In another workflow, if the APV Status changes to RQST2 DCL, make an Update Request to the Requester.
Please take a look at the workflow image in the following URL.

Hi @jmyzk_cloudsmart_jp ,
Thank you so much for your feedback. I have gone through the image you have shared. I have a question for you.
- Please explain to me this part When the Requestor changes the row and the Workflow is triggered, check the value of APV Status to trigger Request an Approval 2 instead of Request an Approval 1 if RQST2 DCL.
Does this mean, when APV Status is RQST2, the workflow will skip the First Approval Request and automatically jump to the second one?
Pascale.

Yes, @Pascale
When APV Status is RQST2 DCL, the workflow will skip the First Approval Request and automatically jump to the second one.
In the workflow, the logic structure is;
Where APV Status is not one of REQSTQ DCS,
Request an approval (APVR1),
otherwise,
Request an approval (APVR2).

Hi @jmyzk_cloudsmart_jp ,
Thanks so much for your clarification. You have been a great help. The APV Status column was very helpful, I loved this hint. The creation of another workflow was a great hint as well.
I have implemented my workflow differently from yours but your assistance has been instrumental
Kind Regards,
Pascale
