Exporting a Report into Excel with Formatting

I have gone in circles trying to figure this out, and I haven't gotten a solution, but is there a way to export a report in Smartsheet and keep my formatting? I know I can export and create a pivot table, but I was wondering if there was a different way around it.

@Andrée Starå Is it possible to import a report and keep the grouping? I have a report of open action tasks grouped by Assigned. When I export it, excel and PDF, the grouping is removed.
