Smartsheet is like a big, super cool to-do list on the computer. If you have a project with lots of different tasks, it helps you keep track of who’s doing what and when everything needs to be done. It’s like a magic board where you can see everything at once, so everyone knows what to do and can work together easily✨

Alright, imagine Smartsheet is like a magical notebook that’s way too smart for its own good. It’s like having a super-organized fairy who helps you keep track of your homework, chores, and epic quests to find the TV remote.

You can make lists and tell it when you want to do things, and it’ll remind you, "Hey, don’t forget to feed the goldfish!" or "Time to finish that giant pile of homework!" You can even share it with your friends, so they can see what they need to do too, like remembering to bring the snacks to your playdate.

So, Smartsheet is like a super-smart, magical notebook that keeps everyone on track and makes sure nothing gets lost—except maybe that one sock you always seem to misplace!

I have actually done this on more than one occasion as I have 4 kids and the two older ones, thankfully wanting to be like dad [sometimes], have inquired or told someone they wanted to work with Smartsheet when they got older. I have described it like legos several times. I've explained that it's a pile of blocks waiting to be told what to become and you can, but it takes vision and effort. As my older son has gotten into his teenage years,

I've also explained it as a stem cell. A stem cell is a living cell within all humans, waiting to become something, and it can be any part of the body, it just needs direction and mapping. I'm sure I'll continue these conversations as I'm slowly starting to let my son do some small tasks as he learns.

I'd say Smartsheet is Smartsheet is like a big digital notebook or a sticker chart that helps people work together to keep track of things. Imagine you and your friends are planning a party. You use a chart to write down who will bring the snacks, who will decorate, what games you’ll play, and what time everyone should arrive. Smartsheet is like that chart but on a computer or tablet. Everyone can see it, add their tasks, and check things off when they're done from anywhere. It helps people stay organized and make sure everyone knows what to do!

Smartsheet is like a chore list where you can keep track of things that need to be done. It helps everyone see what has been done and what still needs to be completed. It’s a way to make sure we are not forgetting something or accidentally having two people work on the same chore. I would describe it as going to school. The workspaces are the classrooms. Within each classroom, there are specific subject tasks that must be done during the school day (ex: project plans, automated workflows, formulas) that are tracked and marked completed. Etc, etc.

Since my son, 8, is always asking how my day was, so I'm used to scaling back the day-to-day chaos. I tell him that my job is to help everyone throughout the hospital get the technology they need to take better care of patients. He's seen me making project plans and collaborative workspaces for testing. I explain that people ask for or tell us what they need, and I organize them so everyone know what to do and when to do it until the job is done.

If they were an elementary school child, I would explain like this.
Think of having all your classes and schoolwork, now imagine it all easily accessible as you need it. With notes, and extras, easily complete the homework (dashboards) and show them to the teacher (leadership) and get good grades (reviews) and make everyone happy.

I would explain to a child in rhyme form relating to a sandcastle:

Imagine a beach with sand soft and bright, Each task is a shell, sparkling in the light. Smartsheet’s the shore where everything’s planned, Helping your projects take shape in the sand.

You know how Lego sets come with those awesome books that have a listing of all the pieces and the step-by-step diagrams on how to assemble them to make the cool finished thing? Smartsheet is the tool I would use if I had to keep track of all those pieces, where they are, and how they fit together.
