error importing an mpp
HI I'm attempting to import a MSFT project paln and I'm getting this error

Hi Ken-- Are you attempting to import the Project file as an .MPP or .XML file? If you're getting this error when importing a .MPP file, try exporting it from project as an XML file and see if you're able to import this, instead. If you got then error when importing an XML file, see if saving and importing it as an MPP file resolves the issue.

I am receiving that error as well. I am trying to import a .mpp file and for some reason, I am having a problem! I have tried importing the 2007 version and the 2013 version submitted to me by my vendor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm getting the same error. I have tried eveything (i can think of) and the error persists.

Try Kennedy's suggestion of exporting out of Project as an .xml and then importing that into Smartsheet.

Thanks for tip. I tried that too - converting to .xml and i get the same error. It is a quite a large .MPP file. Could that be the reason?

It's possible, I know that MPP preserves a lot of recovery as metadata, and Smartsheet has to analyze that even if it doesn't import that data.
You may need to try copying and pasting your data into a new, blank Project file, saving that as an .xml, then try importing that instead.
