Filtering Alerts

We use a sheet to keep track of documents in the review process. Is there a way to set a filtered alert so someone identified as a document reviewer gets notified when they have been added as a reviewer? Would also like to know ifthere is a way to filter an alert so that a user who uploaded a document for review only gets notified when documents they authored have reviews that are complete. At the moment the way alerts are set up, it is confusing users with the notifications they are getting, since they might not be specific to their uploaded item.

    Hi Nicole,

We currently don't have functionality for creating a conditional notification (e.g. email someone when they've been assigned as a reviewer) but I've got your vote down for this on our enhancement request list for further consideration.

With that being said, you might consider creating additional columns, one for each reviewer, then placing a formula in the column such as: =IF(Reviewer1 = "Katie", "Alert!")

You'll want to adapt the formula to reference the "assigned reviewer" column in your sheet, and have the formulas look for their respective reviewer per column.

You can then create Notifications—one notification, per reveiwer, per column—that notifes the reviewer when their column has changed. You can even hide the columns to avoid confusion. Details on hiding columns can be found in our Help Center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/504696-hiding-unhiding-columns
