Hiding Columns with Filters?
If you can filter by row which essentially hides data, then how might one apply these new filters to hide columns also? For example, I manage “reports due” and “proposals due” in one sheet. Report-related rows have 3 unique columns (ideal for Card view) whereas proposal-related rows have 5 unique columns and BOTH share 10 columns.
So the question is, what are necessary conditional rules required to enable one to display 15 columns for my Proposal Filter and 13 columns for my separate Reports Filter?

You might consider creating a Report in Smartsheet that does this. Reports are like filters, but have their own unique view that lets you choose the columns you'd like to see.
Otherwise, you can manually hide columns in a sheet by right-clicking the column header and selecting "hide column."

A report do not show parent and child relationship. I hope following functionality would be really helpful
i. Filter should also allow to hide selected columns
ii. We should be able to publish named filters instead of entire sheet.

Please add my vote to both of these options mentioned above. It is very difficult to increase user usage on sheets when we cannot filter out certain columns as we can rows.

Please add my vote as well. This functionality would greatly increase the utility of our smartsheets by users who aren't as familiar with the platform and only need access to a limited number of the columns for their particular role in data entry.

I vote for this as well. The parent/child relationship is important, even in reports. If I cannot publish a read-only sheet with filters on, I need to be able to get the report function to look identical to my sheet.

Same here. I really need Reports to be able to reflect parent/children relationships. It would also be great for filters to selectively not show certain columns (for readability across different groups that don't require all of the columns)

I agree with everyone here. Reports aren’t a sufficient mechanism in many cases.
