I am trying to create two templates that have cell links from sheet to sheet but when I save the documents as a template (or another file name)  the links dissapear. Is there some way to retain the links?

Templates are not going to save linked cells but you could use a sheet as a template (rather than an actual template) and make copies of the sheet when you need a new one. Saving a copy of the sheet will retain inbound cell links.

  • I found that outbound cell links will not work from a template or copied sheet.  Is there any way to accomplish this?

Hi David, templates are not active sheets, so they will not contain cell links.

Destination cells can only have one inbound link. If you made a copy of a sheet and outbound links were maintained, then the destination cell would have multiple source cells.

It is possible to make a copy of a workspace or folder and maintain cell links. When you do this, you have the option to link the cell links to the newly created sheets. To do this, right click on a folder or workspace and select Save as New.

  • To have multiple sheets pull into one I would use the reports feature,  The report search would need to change everytime a new sheet is added then.  Correct?

David, newly added sheets would need to be added to the Where? criteria unless you select "All sheets and workspaces".
