Roadmap Missing

The Product Roadmap seems to be missing. Is it being redesigned, or has it been removed permanently? We would often make suggestions to specific features listed in the roadmap, and I think having certain user input into pre-release features is a better way than releasing it all at once on the public.

As I recall, a lot of users were really thrown by the update to the Comments section. We were alright, but we don't use them in any very extreme way.

    Hi John,

For a variety of reasons (including low use), we recently retired the publicly available roadmap. You can continue to look to the Release Notes and here in Community for announcements about features as they are released.

In addition, Community will continue to be a place where our development teams solicit feedback on features that are being considered or developed.

    Thanks!

    Gwyneth

Does this mean that conditional notifications, Office 365 integration, and other things on the "now removed" roadmap are no longer being implemented?

That rodmap was a great feature and helped establish trust that the product was evolving and how, directionally, Smartsheet was moving.

    Please bring it back!

    Hi Peter,

I'm glad that you found the roadmap helpful. The removal of the public roadmap does not mean that we've stopped developing Smartsheet.

We're looking at other ways to keep people who are intersted in participating in the Smartsheet development process in the loop. There are no formalized plans yet, but we'll post more here in Community as we're closer to an offical program.

    -1 on this.

To me, this is like having the city tell us that we can't use Main Street because they will come up with a new way to travel along that route.

    Someday.

I understand (I believe) the reasoning here - it costs money and time to keep this part of the development exposed to the public. And it wasn't being maintained well so had decreased value anyway.

    But still.

I believe Smartsheet would have been better off letting us believe the roadmap was still in use until the new system was ready.

    The illusion was comforting.

    My $0.02

I suspect it's because the developers have realised that there are a number of things on the roadmap which they have decided not to do and the easiest way is to remove the whole roadmap.  It also could mean a stark turning point in the development of smartsheet.  If you don't show openly to your user base the pending developements it often means that you are winding down development as you are no longer obliged to show and communicate openly what's being worked on.

This is dissapointing.  As an Enterprise user I've been with smartsheet for a long time but there comes a time when you have to take note of a change like this and realise the one thing you've been requesting for 5 years (yes 5 years Mr Smartsheet!!) is conditional alerts and they've still not provided this!  Yes they may have provided alot of other things for which I'm sure other users find useful but not for me I'm afraid.  We can't use these features without a much better controlled alert facility.

Dissapointing (sorry said that twice now!).  I know that someone from Smartsheet will come back on this and try to persuade us all that developement continues - if that's the case then Mr Smartsheet, prove it! with a roadmap or someting equivalent that existing and possible new customers can see.

    Moan over!

Please reply to this discussion, specific to the question about conditional alerts.  Knowing/seeing that this was on the roadmap was one of a few key features that I personally used to sell additional value of Smartsheet.

As a Smartsheet user I know the value it provides, but to the un-indoctrinated, the initial "sell" has to be something close to their heart.  Our field service organization is about 400+ strong having conditional alerts on the near horizon was a major win.

Please let us know if this is still in the works and if so what the expected delivery date would be.

I understand the need to pull the Roadmap page, but that should not prevent Smartsheet from being transparent if asked about a specific feature; particular one that was listed on the roadmap previously.  I'm not asking to add my vote for this feature, I just want to know if this feature is still in the works.

    Thanks,

Eric - we are in the final stretch.  Targeting March or sooner.  Thanks for your patience!

Is there a place other than the road map that we can view features that have been requested, what's in planning, under development, or declined?  Wunderlist has a great feature that allows its users to view and vote on requested features https://wunderlist.uservoice.com/forums/136230-wunderlist-feature-requests.  This would be a great add to Smartsheet.

    Thanks

For what it's worth, I too wish you hadn't decided to do away with the Roadmap.  I thought it provided a unique look into what was being planned/worked on by the company and showed a commitment to creating a partnership with your customers.  Now I basically have to "assume" that you're still working on things and continuing to develop the product, and that can only go on for so long.  I'm disappointed you decided to do away with transparency in this case.
