Single update request to multiple people failing?

Anyone else seeing this?

A customer reports that when she send a single UR to multiple people, the first person "wins" and the others are locked out.

I have not been able to reproduce it.

Previous behavior:

1. Send UR to multiple people.

2. Each gets email.

3. Each tracked separately

The customer says it does not work that way.

It's my understanding that Update Requests have always worked this way, which is one of the reasons we don't use them as a standard part of our workflow. We've been on Smartsheet for a year and have always had the "first person to use the Update Request form wins" situation.

    Erin,

I tested it and I can update the same initial UR three times (sent to three different emails).

That's the way UR's have always worked for me, so now I'm (more) confused.

I can see both use cases:

    1. Send a bunch of rows to a bunch of people and say "update this with what you know", when the sender doesn't necessarily know who knows what.

    Everyone logs in and updates.

    2. Send a bunch of rows to a bunch of people and say "someone needs to update this".

The first person who logs in answers the question and the request is closed.

The confirmation is sent to others so they know they don't need to waste time logging in - because they can't.

If no one answers, resend the request and inform the sender that noone has stepped up.

But (2) is not how it works either. That's just a feature request.

    Craig

    Craig,

Thanks for the input. I'm more confused, too!

Does it work differently depending on whether you send from a report or a sheet? And if sending from a sheet, does it work differently depending on whether you send a sheet-level UR or a row-level UR?

It would make some things a lot easier for us if we could send a single UR to multiple users.

I was testing from a sheet, selecting one or more rows, and one or more email addresses.

And it works for me, but not for the customer.

    Frustrating.

"But it works on my computer" is one of my unfavorite phrases.
