We have launched our Smartsheets system after months of designing and testing. We have been using iPads with the Smartsheet app during the entire process to do simple field updates. Now, the day that we launched, everyone is suddenly view only when using the Smartsheet app on the iPad, but when we log onto a computer, we can suddenly edit everything... Why is this?

Any help would be very much appreciated, please!!! :-)

    Hi Allison,

That's strange. Cant, you edit anything in the sheet?

    I hope this helps you!

    Hi Andree,

No one can make any edits from the iPad on this sheet (even me, the sheet/workspace owner). We can access other sheets and alter them, but not this one sheet.

Can you offer any further advice?

    Thank you!

Its possible Smarthsheet is having an issue with Mobile. Please report the issue to Smartsheet support. As of right now, there aren't any reported incidents. Also, I would check to make sure that all your users are still shared on the sheet and are shared as editors. Also, make sure that you are accessing the same sheet on both mobile and desktop, as sometimes new copies are made and sharing privileges aren't always coped over.

Thank you for the advice. I have confirmed that the sheet is the same and all users are "editor - can share". I am the owner/admin and I cannot edit this sheet on the iPad. I have an open ticket right now with Smartsheets (03069484) - but I have only received their initial email, no further assistance.

Thank you again for your help!

    Happy to help!

I tried on my iPad, and it works for me. I concur with Mike to contact support if everything is as it should.

Update - it was as simple as updating the app. We are using some new features in this sheet that were released a couple weeks ago - we updated the Smartsheet app on one iPad (our test iPad) but did not update the remaining 6 iPads. This would explain why old sheets that weren't using the new features were fine, but this new sheet was not.

Thought I would post our humility so others may benefit from it in the future. :-)

Thank you everyone for your assistance!

    Allison,

I'm so glad you posted this problem (and solution).  I had the exact same thing happen the other day on my iPhone app -- I could only view a sheet that I own.

Even stranger, other sheets on which I'm only an Admin or Editor were fine -- I could edit them.  The inconsistency had me scratching my head, but my laptop recovered and I could use the browser, so forgot about the problem.

I just upgraded the app and it's working as expected.

Thank you so much for sharing what you learned!  So sorry it affected a big iPad rollout of Smartsheet.  Hope all is well now.
