I'm using Claude to read documents, extract summaries and certain data components then create rows in smart sheet for a document catalog. It would be really helpful if it could also upload the document as I'm having to do that step manually
The current Smartsheet MCP supports list_attachments, get_attachment, and attach_url, but it does not expose a tool for uploading a generated file as a native Smartsheet attachment.

Our use case is an automated billing agent that generates CSV files for weekly Down Payment billing batches and monthly Final Billing batches. The agent can already identify the exact Smartsheet destination row, but it cannot upload the generated CSV directly to that row.
We would like the MCP to expose a native file-upload tool, for example:
upload_attachment or attach_file
upload_attachment
attach_file
Suggested inputs:sheet_id, target_type, target_id, file, filename, content_type
sheet_id
target_type

file
filename
content_type
Suggested supported targets:SHEET, ROW, COMMENT
SHEET

This would enable complete agent workflows without requiring OneDrive/SharePoint links or a separately hosted custom MCP, while keeping generated billing documents as native Smartsheet attachments.
