Move and Copy automations just stopped working

Ok, I've been dealing with Smartsheet for years so I know how to get around some of the quirks that come with it . In cases where automations stop I have found rebuilding them or creating a copy can deal with the issue but for almost two weeks now all move and copy automations stopped working even some of the manual selecting and moving row fail. We have looked at the sized of the target sheet, the origin sheet, the automation conditions, and new methods of moving data but this is just wild.

Even down detector shows issues but nothing is listed on the status page for Smartsheet. This happened when Smartsheet had the email notice issues during the last couple weeks too. (note: still no acknowledgement on my ticket submission to support, new ticket added as of 8/6).

Is anyone else experiencing this and has anyone from Smartsheet made any statements about this?

Hi Mark,

There are a few posts in the community around issues with automations at the moment. Tickets are being raised, but nothing as yet from Smartsheet.

We could do with some comms from Smartsheet, as at the moment we (we are Smartsheet partners) are having to tell our clients, "it is a Smartsheet issue, as a result of the recent outage, they are working on it, we will let you know when we know", not really that good.

Causing a few problems as we are having to setup workarounds, but with many client orgs and many solutions, there is a lot more work.

In 1 case a client is unable to process the monthly expenses for their staff. We have manual workarounds that will kick in from tomorrow, but not ideal.

Raise a ticket and see how it goes. If I get an update on my ticket I'll post a reply.

Yeah, multiple tickets have been raised for weeks with them hoping they can deploy a fix soon. We have accounts all over the US and this is literally shutting down our ability to plan appointments.

Private, sector at the moment, but due to my background I get into some pretty fun stuff.

I'm a Technician for Control Systems, Designer of our planning tool, and Analyst for my department reporting all the metrics up the chain. I wear a lot of hats.

Sounds good, we are mainly sports and sports events, this impacting your appointments will sting a bit.

Hopefully if folks start raising more tickets, and contacting their partner reps at Smartsheet, and their sales reps at Smartsheet, this might get a bit more traction.

1000%. I don't know if its me but in recent months its been hard to believe the planning tool due to outages and down time. Add in screaming contractors and with a less of a technical background and it just becomes a dumpster file. You are so right telling the client again that, "oh the 3rd party software isn't working right and they are looking into it" isn't building great relationships at the moment.

We are looking at the ChatGPT MCP in the morning, to see if that may be of use in identifying and setting up triggers for the automations that are misfiring, baby steps with this though, and it may be a non-starter. It does bring up the thoughts of business continuity though.

Hopefully, Smartsheet will have an answer tomorrow for us.

Chiming in - if it helps your situation. Lately, we have have experienced issues between Grid and Table view more and more. This has been for both Automations and Bridge workflows. Things have now only been working in Table view correctly and consistently. If users process actions in Grid view, some of our automations or workflow don't run correctly. However, if the user switches to Table view and runs the same action, then the automations or workflows run correctly. Go figure.

Since Smartsheet is eventually getting rid of Grid view someday in the future, as Table view is replacing it - I suspect that anything released is being tested only in Table view, or not at all or as thoroughly tested in Grid view. That's purely an assumption of my own and not from Smartsheet themselves.

Overall, a heads up in case you want to see if the view you're using affects your situation or not. Good Luck to all!

@Maggie_L14 Yes, our team figured as much. With the depreciation of card view too we have noticed a ton of stuff no long functioning as intended. Apparently they will fix it all "soon".
