I would love to have the ability to run a detailed activity log for all Automated Workflows in a single, centralized view. While Smartsheet currently provides ways to view details for certain activities, having an Automated Workflow Activity Log with filtering capabilities would make it much easier to monitor, troubleshoot, and track workflow activity.
The ideal activity log should include:
- Automation Name
- Notifications & Reminders
- Alerts and reminders sent when criteria are met, changes are made, or dates are reached
- Recipient(s) who received the alert or reminder
- Document Generation
- Name of the document generated
- Sheet-to-Sheet Workflows
- When a row was moved or copied and the destination sheet
- Bonus: Include a hyperlink to the destination sheet directly from the activity log
- Update & Approval Requests
- Date/time the request or approval was sent
- Recipient(s) the request was sent to
- Sheet Changes
- Cells or values that were changed or cleared
- Dates recorded
- Assignment changes
- Other changes made to the sheet as a result of an automation
Ability to apply the following filters:
- Workflow Type
- Workflow Creation Date
- Created By
- Workflow Changes/Edits
- Deleted Workflows
- Workflow Status
- Active
- Inactive
- Unable to Run
A centralized, filterable activity log would provide a much clearer picture of what automation ran, when it ran, what it changed, and who was impacted, making workflow management and troubleshooting significantly easier.
