I am building a project that has external dependency to be delivered on a specific date . How do you create this dependency? Do you create a task with no duration? (start and finish date are same)?
For me, it depends on where the external dependency is stored / maintained.
If it is located in another Smartsheet sheet, you can link a date to the [Start] date of the project but not the [Finish] date. At that point, either the task is 0 duration (if tied to a [Finish] date or something else if tied to just a date or the [Start] date.
If the external dependency is stored external, I'd probably have a short task to check on its status or react to a trigger, but that is likely best modeled as 0 duration task - the milestone is the external dependency.
