We are wondering if anyone knows how to build a public facing sheet that has a search box where customers could type in a word or two and then have it return any hits. The data that would be searched could be linked to another sheet and that file would not need to be viewable on the public one. Is this possible?
Hi Jess,
If you publish the sheet so they could use the search function.
Another way could be to use filters maybe.
Would that work?
Have a fantastic weekend!

Andrée,
That is what we would like to avoid because it tens to confuse our customers. We are hoping to keep it simple so all they see is a search box and short description.
Thanks,Jess
Happy to help!
How many records is the database?
Andrée
1037 rows.
I might have a way.
How many different objects do they need to search for?
Roughly 4148. However, hat number is a little high because each row in theory should have four searchable fields, but some have only two or three.
Basically we have a spreadsheet with about 1,000 items. Each item has four different codes. We want for the public to be able to search for the items by any of these numbers or by the item name. I was hoping that a template or dashboard could be made that provides the end user with a search box and then returns any matches based on the Smartsheet in the background that is linked to the public facing sheet. Is this possible?
Can you share the sheet, screenshot or some example data so I can get a better understanding of the structure?
You can share the sheet with me at andree@getdone.se
Hello,
were you able to find a solution for this? I have the need to do something similar.
Hi,
How would you like to use it? Can you describe your process?
Hope that helps!
Have a fantastic day!

Hi Andree
I am struggling with the same issue. I want to provide a search function for public viewers. Unfortunately it doesn't work to use STRG + F on a published sheet with read only permission. Furthermore, shared filters cannot be edited on published sheets. I can't find any way to provide a search function either on my dashbord nor in my master grid for the public viewers. I would really appreciate your hints. Thanx Reni

Hi all, I am trying to build out a formula that will return "True" if the CIF #@row can be found above it in the same column (CIF #) AND the Days Since Created is between 30 - 365 days. All of the formulas I have tried have only gotten me so far as the "AND". Adding in the dates screws it up. The goal is to determine if…
I am getting a lot of REF errors for my predecessors and I can't figure out why. At first I thought I might have REF for predecessors to predecessors but that's not the case. When I export the file into Excel it shows the IDs in the place where it shows REF in SS. Each time I refresh the file I feel like different values…
I am trying to create a sheet summary, where the field is a formula that relies on a contact card within a column. However, it keeps returning a result of "#NO MATCH". The columns involved are, 1:) Priority (symbol column) for Up, Unchanged, and Down, and 2:) Contact Card column. I am trying to get a sheet summary formula…
