If I have metrics in the sheet summary of a project, how do I display those in a dashboard?
Thanks.
Hi,
The simplest method would be to use a Sheet Summary Report and add it to the Dashboard.
Would that work?
Hope that helps!
Have a fantastic week!

Thanks. I added a Sheet Summary Report and made sure that metric is displaying there. But when I go to "Add Data" in the dashboard metric widget, I can't select the sheet summary report to get the number.
You would want to use a Report widget to select the Sheet Summary Report.
Happy to help!
I saw that Paul answered already!

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

I guess that work (using a report) but you don't really get the nice formatting options that comes with the metric control.
Metric vs. Report (see screenshots below)
Thanks for your suggestions,

Is it only one project or multiple projects?
At the moment you can't link the Sheet Summary outside of the sheet to another sheet or the dashboard.
Depending on your structure, I'd probably recommend creating a so-called Master Metric Sheet where you can collect all the metrics and then add them to the dashboard as needed.
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)
Have a fantastic day!
You could create a grid one each sheet (that can be hidden once built) that basically links all of the data from the Summary to fields that can be accessed via cross sheet references and by the Metrics widget.
struggling with the same issue.
it would be great if Metrics Widget would be able to access Sheet Summary fields. Did anyone submit already a request for this to Smartsheet?
Thanks,Maxim
Hi Maxim,
There are undoubtedly others that have submitted an enhancement request to be able to use metrics, but every request counts.
Smartsheet has officially said that Metric Widget support is coming in the near future.
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
just noticed that it seems that it is not possible to link summary rows into other sheets. if this is the case, it seems to be another nice feature to be added...
Yes, at the moment it doesn't work to link from Sheet Summary to another sheet. My suggestion would be the same as Pauls. Collect the information elsewhere in the sheet and use that to link to the other sheets as needed.
It looks like it is already live!!! See screenshot I've just taken
Yes, it was released a couple of hours ago with a few other features. I don't want to spoil the Engage Keynote though. In approximately six hours, all will be revealed.
Exciting!
Is Engage streaming live? If so, where can I find a link? All I can find is videos from 2018 and the itinerary for this year's. I don't think it's even 5am over there as of the time of this post, but I'd love to be able to follow some of it at least in the background while I work...
It is! Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtYLA0_BEPE
I am currently setting up an automation for people to get notified through their email, when they are prompted. But is there a way that they can reply in the email of a comment that will then go to the specific sheet. This way they do not have access to the sheet, but can just comment through email with updates?
Is there a way to revert to the old dashboard look and feel. The new dashboards do not look good at all. There is no way of knowing if there are additional items in the widgets until you scroll over one to learn there is more to it since the vertical bar doesn't show. We have hundreds of dashboards and they will all need…
When i try to send or print the timeline view instead of showing the progression bars like they do on the screen it only send the data entered and not a graph type view to print. Is there a way to do this. I am using a mac platform if that helps.
