Hi: I am looking to see if the software is able to time stamp an item to keep a record of it. we would like to have a checklist and once a task is completed or changed. if there can be a timestamp on day/time in order to keep records for auditing purposes.
is there such a thing?
thank you.
Erika
Not at this time. This is a request that ALL OF US have asked for multiple times. But there is not an ability to do this at this time. Please submit a Product Enhancement Request to add your vote to this feature!
Every cell has a timestamp embedded in it that can be viewed by right clicking on the cell and selecting "view cell history". It shows the whole history of each cell and I use it for forensic purposes regularly. It's more useful to me than a single timestamp that just shows the most recent change date and time.
Hello. We have a question about the time stamping in the meta data fields of ‘view cell history’. What time zone is used in the time stamping? Is it always PST regardless of where in the world the User is?
Good question. @Shane Greenwood, can you respond to this question and let us know if the view history display is in our local time-zone or is displaying a different timezone?
Please add my vote for this feature as well. It is useful to have cell history time stamps, but that alone is not directly tied to a workflow action. It is also not possible (at least without programming) to compare cell history timestamps for elapsed time (days/hrs/mins). For the purpose of reporting metrics, being able to determine exactly when a specific workflow action was completed, AND being able to tell how long it took between that action and another time/date is critically needed.
If this cannot be accomplished easily using sheet fields and formulas, it makes the utility of SmartSheet woefully lacking.
Thanks!
Hi, Completely agree with Cecil - this feature is definitely required on reportable fields. I appreciate you can see the history by going into each cell's history, but this does not help when trying to obtain metrics involving performance.
Please include my vote to add this functionality.
On a side note, a select-able variable on dashboards would be great too. I work within a manufacturing facility, who offer a dashboard to all customers, allowing them to check the progress of their orders. Having a dynamic field would be great for them tracking their orders (i.e. order number, part number etc.)
Many thanks - Look forward to feedback
I have been asking for this for two years. 😠
@Colin Entrekin You can now set a timestamp date based on another cell change using an automation workflow!
Is there a way that a "timestamp" can actually include "time"??
Hi @Brian WDW
I hope you're well and safe!
Please have a look at my post below with a method I developed.

Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!

Is there a way to revert to the old dashboard look and feel. The new dashboards do not look good at all. There is no way of knowing if there are additional items in the widgets until you scroll over one to learn there is more to it since the vertical bar doesn't show. We have hundreds of dashboards and they will all need…
When i try to send or print the timeline view instead of showing the progression bars like they do on the screen it only send the data entered and not a graph type view to print. Is there a way to do this. I am using a mac platform if that helps.
I have reproduced the following behavior in a validated Smartsheet application. User permission: Editor (not Admin) Row status: Locked (confirmed via row menu displaying "Unlock Row") Text, Date, Contact List, and Checkbox columns cannot be modified. Dropdown List columns remain editable. Selecting a new dropdown value and…
