Re: July Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
So this question is a really big one for me as I set a major goal of obtaining my PMP. I have been a PM in some for or fashion for over 15 years at this point. When I took my first IT PM role, my boss's boss was on the local PMI chapter's board and he was about to set up into the president role. He got into volunteering for PMI and I have been doing that since then. After several months in that role, I started to prep for the PMP exam. It was a mind numbing and extremely stressful journey. Oh, I forgot to mention that we just welcomed our son into the world during this prep time (Never prep for a major exam during the first year of having your first child). I got approved to take my exam and scheduled it. I went in feeling confident that I would pass, but I was soon met with the harsh reality that around only 20% pass their first try. I fell in the 80%. It was extremely discouraging, but I picked myself back up and scheduled a second attempt. Although I did better the second time, it was still not enough to pass. I basically said well this is not meant for me to have it and I didn't think about it again. Flash forward to 2020, COVID hit and I got caught in the COVID RIF at my job. A few months later I took another IT PM role. After a year there I told myself that its time to revisit the thought of preparing for the PMP exam. So I cleared it with my new job and they covered me attending another boot camp (I attended one and audited another during my last prep at the other job), and I started to prep. The company I worked for bought out another company and finding time during that merger to study was nearly impossible so I put off applying to take the exam. Things started to change at this company that I felt like weren't going to aid me in advancing in my career so I started job hunting and took a new IT PM position at another company. That was the best decision I made. From day one I expressed wanting to get my PMP and my new boss was 100% behind me. 2025 started and my boss pushed me to take another boot camp. I took my 3rd boot camp at the end of March and it went well until the class was over and the nerves started to set in. The realization of now I have a ticking clock due to the class having a if you don't pass the first time they will pay for me to retake it clause with a 90 day from the end of the class deadline to get the retake if needed. So I applied, got approved, and put my head down and studied like I have never studied before. I wanted to take the test in person, but the places within 15 minutes of me either had an opening before I felt like I would be prepared or one past my 90 day deadline. I looked at places a bit further away from me and then I noticed a place I haven't thought about in quite some time, Jones College in Ellisville, MS. I have strong connections there as that is where I obtained my Associates degree from many moons ago. I took it as a sign, plus the opening was for the day before the 90 day deadline. I went to sit for the exam and as I drove onto campus, I felt this calming presence come over me. I went into the exam building, one that I had been in tons of time before, and got checked in. Started the exam and as I went through the questions, I felt like I wasn't doing well. I finished the exam and went to check out. The lady at the front slid a piece of paper face down to me. I was so nervous when flipping that piece of paper over, but when I did, it read PASS!! Not only did I pass, but I got AT (Above Target) in all three knowledge areas they test for! I was so relieved and so excited! I waited until I got into my car to let out all my excitement! Then I remembered, I don't have to worry about the retake clause! I finally obtained my PMP, but the thought has creeped into my head, what cert do I work toward next?

Re: Document Builder - Fillable Form w/ inconsistent font sizes
Yes I am now using it to request approval for a project from our dealer. It was tricky setting up the form fields to line up correctly as well as the fonts but after trial and error, I finally have the form letter appearing correctly. When I need to send it, it's literally a few clicks and I'm done. I should also note that my fields are not in the email paragraph but rather on separate lines at the top before the paragraph and for the signature at the bottom.

Re: Can I request an input variable
So for anyone following this thread……. I have a solution / workaround
(1) I have created a smartsheet with one record that the users can update to select the fiscal week they want reported up.
(2) Next I have a a smartsheet summary field in my main smartsheet for the optional week with a formula to pick up that week from the smartsheet in step (1) above
(3) I then have a helper field in my smartsheet set to True or False on whether the record falls into this optional week
Now I can perform any calculations or reporting on the optional week = True as it keeps all the other formula more streamlined without too many nested IFs
I've also learnt how to determine what is the most recent week as that can depend on when the users are looking at the data and when they've put the figures in. So a nice little formula to set the Latest Week to be true or false as I hadn't come across the MAX function before

Re: Dynamic Filter on Dashboards
@Naeem Ejaz - So i tested that dashboard template, and although its a neat approach, there are a few steps that many unexperienced users would have to be educated on before someone can check out the data based upon the filter they choose.
1. Most people know when using Excel or PowerBI what to do when they see a filter option in the upper part of the dashboards (what they have to do / how to use it), but with Smartsheets, its not laid out the same (at least for this Dynamic Dashboard Template). There are other ways to make this template work & have it look like the other software's mentioned, but it takes some experience with website coding and understanding how to tie it all together.
2. Once you pick 1 of the 4 choices (in the template), the page WONT show the new data unless the end user knows to refresh the page.. This is where you loose credibility. Having this feature shouldn't require someone refreshing pages each time they want to see the data changed. Refer to the two images below showing East and North for Reference..
If/when Smartsheets can remove that necessary requirement of refreshing pages just to force the servers to talk and update the data for features like this, then that's when users can truly say Smartsheets is finally playing in the same league as their competitors. I for one need several dynamic dashboards (i have dozens that could be replaced with a dynamic version), but i am not about to have a "Navigation Guide" taking up valuable space up top just to remind anyone that they MUST refresh the page each time they want to see their new filter choice (as you see in the two images above).
This is a great start, but no where near where it needs to be, as you can see with Airtable's Interface Dashboard Setup and Smartsheets knows this.
As for the 3rd party add ons that we can purchase, this is great and extremely valuable, but you have to keep in mind, many companies cannot and will not purchase additional features that SHOULD be included in the already ridiculous cost were sucked into. There are many other software's (online/offline) that can do such basic/advance things that are already included in their pricing models, why should we convince our Directors/Executives to pull out their checkbooks for more money? So, ask yourself this, how can I/you convince my company, who is already paying all this money, to purchase another add-on, when i can just convince them to pack it up and move on to the next software (as shown in links above)?
Smartsheets needs to include all these add-ons in their pricing structures, not offer ways for us to pay for dozens of Third Party Memberships on top of theirs, just to operate a software with features that their competitors already include!!!
😉Again, not saying any of these suggestions are bad, they are at least an option for now (more than what we had years ago), but before anyone makes the decisions necessary to move forward with the choices available here in Smartsheets, i wanted to share my view on this so that everyone here can rethink their approach knowing what is available to them, to make the necessary decisions that is best for their situation and company. 😊

Re: [Need Help] Lookup/Index matching for Horizontal Data
There is no limit to the number of nested IF statements. The only limit you could run into there would be that a formula cannot exceed 4,000 characters.
What you will want is a series of INDEX/MATCHes linked together with IFERRORs.
=IFERROR(IFERROR(IFERROR(INDEX({1st Type Column}, MATCH([Phone Number]@row, {1st Phone Number Column}, 0)), INDEX({2nd Type Column}, MATCH([Phone Number]@row, {2nd Phone Number Column}, 0))), INDEX({3rd Type Column}, MATCH([Phone Number]@row, {3rd Phone Number Column}, 0))), INDEX({4th Type Column}, MATCH([Phone Number]@row , {4th Phone Number Column}, 0)))

Re: What formula will pull client specific data from one sheet?
Lol, no worries. Your initial solution worked for me, so I used a combination of yours and his. You guys saved me so much time and effort.
Re: Conditional formatting multiple columns at once.
Hi,
I hope you're well and safe!
I agree, and in the meantime, here's a possible workaround. I'd recommend the fantastic add-on, which makes this possible (+ many other features).
