Re: Creating a heat map to understand level of effort across a team
Hi @rcfjcc
Thank you for sharing the Excel file.
Here is a demo solution.
For the solution, I created a metric sheet that counts the number os tasks by submitter during a specific period.
As the image shows, I used the Sheet Summary to designate the period.
(The metric Sheet at the bottom of the dashboard)
As I wanted to populate the submitters dynamically, I added column numbers from 1 to 10 in the # column.
Then, using the INDEX(DISTINCT()) function, I listed the submitters' emails.
[Submittter] =IFERROR(INDEX(DISTINCT({LearningDeployment_Julie : Submitter}), [#]@row), "")
[Number of tasks] =IF(ISBLANK(Submittter@row), "", COUNTIFS({LearningDeployment_Julie : Name}, ISTEXT(@cell), {LearningDeployment_Julie : Submitter}, Submittter@row, {LearningDeployment_Julie : not Parent}, true, {LearningDeployment_Julie : Date}, <=End#, {LearningDeployment_Julie : End Date}, >=Start#))
[Rank] =IF(ISNUMBER([Number of tasks]@row), RANKEQ([Number of tasks]@row, [Number of tasks]:[Number of tasks], 0))
[Top 3] =IF(ISNUMBER(Rank@row), RANKEQ(Rank@row, Rank:Rank, 1) <= 3)
To prevent counting the parent's task, I added the [not Parent] column, as shown below. If you want to include the parent task as well, remove the bold part.
COUNTIFS({LearningDeployment_Julie : Name}, ISTEXT(@cell), {LearningDeployment_Julie : Submitter}, Submittter@row, {LearningDeployment_Julie : not Parent}, true, {LearningDeployment_Julie : Date}, <=End#, {LearningDeployment_Julie : End Date}, >=Start#))
The conditions that compare the Date and End Date with the Summary Fields get the number of tasks in the period.
(You can access the published sheet and apply the filter to check if the formula is working correctly.)
By the way, the APAC Smartsheet Aligned Bootcamp has been held at the Marriott Hotel since the year before last. I stayed at the first one in Bangkok, and the bed was the best I have ever had.😊
Re: Introducing the in-app Help Center, now generally available!
I agree with Monique about this being a game changer! Not many folks use the app, but this may be a huge pro into moving towards that utilization especially when on the shop floor. I will definitely be sharing this with my user base and hinting towards making updates can be easier for them!

Re: Welcome to the new AI Community!
Hello! My name is Alexis, and IT Business Analyst at Thermo Fisher Scientific living remotely on Ohio.
I have been using Smartsheet since May of 2022 where it suddenly fell on my lap when a colleague left the company with 1.5 months left until go-live. I studied, watched videos, and became the main PoC for all things Smartsheet! Since being in IT, AI has been a huge goal of ours to do more of and when I first saw the AI features released, I was excited to try it. I will say the more complex the formula, the harder it might be to get AI to work just right, but it has been helpful for some of the syntax which I am thankful for. I can't wait to see where the development team can take it (especially after seeing the sneak peek at ENGAGE 2025!).

Re: Welcome to the new AI Community!
Hi,
I've been using Smartsheet for 2 years. I have used Smartsheet AI to rewrite project descriptions and deliverables. I would like to see other use cases to write formulas and automations.

Re: Welcome to the new AI Community!
Hello everyone!
I’m excited to join this community. I work as an Information Systems Analyst for the Engineering & Capital Projects Department with the City of San Diego. I’m currently learning Smartsheet and am new to Smartsheet Gov.
I use Smartsheet to track IT budgets and expenses, and I’m looking forward to learning best practices, tips, and real-world use cases from others—especially fellow government peers. I’m also very interested in learning more about AI and how it can be applied in government work.
Looking forward to connecting and learning from you all!

Re: Health and Wellness Solution
Oooh, haven't done this but I love the idea. I would recommend scrolling your phone's app store to get inspiration from what health apps are tracking and how some of their analytics look!
Re: Health and Wellness Solution
That is a great idea! I like the thought of adding automations for water intake daily goals and fitness roll up data! Let me know how it goes!
Health and Wellness Solution
Good afternoon everyone.
I am building a Health and Wellness Solution on my personal account to keep track of my health by logging things like; water intake, exercise (including type of work out, est calories burned, etc.), food intake, sleep tracking, weight log etc.
Has anyone else done something similar using Smartsheet? I would love ideas for what to display, or how the dashboard could look.
I have so many ideas for it but I love to see what others have done for inspiration and growth. Thanks in advance.

Re: Connect your Smartsheet data with AI tools across your business
Love seeing Smartsheet expand its AI integrations - this makes connecting project data across our apps so much easier!

Re: Introducing the in-app Help Center, now generally available!
This is a game-changer for how I share resources with folks. Immediately sharing the announcement with my org and going to start recommending this for new folks.
