Re: Work With Flow - Operation Smile Story
Smartsheet helps me create smiles at my workplace by simplifying and improving our workflows and processes. I’m always looking for ways to make our systems more efficient, and Smartsheet gives me the tools to automate tasks, centralize data, and improve visibility across teams. When coworkers see how much easier their day-to-day becomes—from quicker approvals to clearer project tracking—it creates a ripple effect of less stress and more smiles all around.

Re: Work With Flow - Operation Smile Story
Smartsheet = Smiles…. well like most of us in the Smartsheet world, Smartsheet has made me smile daily for years so much that I needed to do it full time! When I think of Smartsheet it's not just a software but a whole way of life! We are all here because we love something that really impowers us to do more with less and unlike most tools…. Smartsheet just works! This community is proof on how much we love Smartsheet because we are weird! 😎

Re: Work With Flow - Operation Smile Story
I ❤️ using Smartsheet — it makes my job so much easier. But honestly, the best part is when I show someone else how it can save them time or simplify something, and they just light up. That moment is the best!

pun intended "a sloth hanging out of a tree.." … they really take "pura vida" seriously!
Re: Upper case for first letter of the word
I was working on the same scenario and came across Jeff's reply which works nicely, but like Gurav I wanted to extract the firstname from an contact email field so have tweaked Jeff's function slightly to replace "FirstName@row" with the function to extract the name from the email and end up with:
=UPPER(LEFT(LEFT([Contact Email]@row, FIND(".", [Contact Email]@row) - 1), 1)) + LOWER(MID(LEFT([Contact Email]@row, FIND(".", [Contact Email]@row) - 1), 2, 40))

One community that really stands out to me is the Smartsheet community. What makes it special is how people—from beginners to experts—come together to share ideas, solve problems, and support each other. It’s not just about using the tool; it’s about learning from real experiences, swapping tips, and celebrating each other’s successes. The vibe is positive and collaborative, almost like having a group of helpful friends who genuinely want you to succeed. That sense of connection, combined with practical advice, is what makes the Smartsheet community so memorable and valuable.

Shaffi Mithwani | Co-owner of a logistics company in Nairobi, Kenya.
Q: What is the best example of a community you have seen?
In 1994, I joined a small group of men committed to helping the less fortunate in Kenya’s arid regions. Today, that group is a fully registered local NGO with 25 members (all volunteers) and 5 staff, including a CEO. We meet every Tuesday evening, driven by our simple but powerful vision: “Eradicate Poverty Through Education.”
This community gives me a deep sense of purpose, peace, and belonging. I’ve learned that when people unite around a clear mission, they really can move mountains.

Hi @Genevieve,
ahhh, Edinburgh, very good memories from my weekend there a few years ago :-)
Fun fact about my city, Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt at river Main), "Frank" refers to the tribe of "the Franks" and "fort" refers to the ford they found here.
And from the Thirty Year's War, there still is a cannonball sticking in the wall on the northern side of river Main.
The eagle is the Frankfurt animal, but I'd prefer a unicorn ;-)

Having the Unicorn as the national animal is way cool, @Genevieve P.! 🦄
Continuing the animals theme, here's a fun fact about San Pedro, Costa Rica: this isn't a rural area at all, but if you're lucky while walking around the UCR campus, you might spot a sloth hanging out on a tree. 👀

Besides the Smartsheet Community, I have been fond of the digital communities I have been proud to have joined and be an active member of. One of those is ATX Cat Punks United - an Austin-based Facebook community I found when I first moved to Austin back in 2001. As a momma cat who just recently lost her 20-year-old companion cat I found extreme comfort in this community. The admins of the group will put together a nice post for any cat community member when they cross the rainbow bridge. There was just something comforting about receiving heartfelt messages at a time when I was so sad and lonely when I had to say goodbye to my cat. Even the funny cat videos and shares that I see come across my timeline of other cats in the community, country, and beyond is appreciated.
The group will even get together at least 2x a year to have a nice potluck and get to meet/see each other IRL (in real life)! I really have enjoyed being in the group for as long as I have. It really has been a precious and safe space for me.
