Re: Graphing from a grouped report- 'Unnamed series" in legend
Thank you for responding!
I figured it out. The report was only pulling in the two columns that I wanted to chart: PHASE and STATUS.
When I also included the project ID column, the chart series then reflected the series names and displayed them on the legend as it should.

Re: WORKFLOW: Cannot use a Contact Column with Multiple Select?
IT IS NOW RESOLVED!!! I discovered the notification within Smartsheet.com on his account on the bell icon on the left hand panel. I had him go to his Personal Settings/Notifications and we discovered that "Email" was NOT checked.
Once that was checked I triggered then notification again and voila!!!!
Whew!!

Re: Formula that compares multiple cut-points and renders desired number
Is that a direct copy/paste of your formula? The > and = symbols in "greater than or equal to" must be adjacent.
IF([Column15]@row > ={Cut-Points Range 3}
^^This will throw an error.

Re: New streamlined creation experience
@Sean Carty I would also like to emphasize that many of us offer internal trainings to Smartsheet users at our companies, it is really hard to do this without prior knowledge of these changes. I am holding 4 trainings in the next 2 months and it would be very helpful to know what Smartsheet is planning for Sheets before I hold these. I talk about the hierarchy of Smartsheet (Sheets vs. Workspaces) and when it is appropriate to use each.
Next, I would also like to chime in as the System Admin for a 6000+ company. And have not changed over to the new USM model yet, but will likely have the same issue that @Julie Becker has "Not to mention users who are Provisional Members, can create countless number of items which also adds to more work. Each week i am having to transfer new creations into my name so i can see the rediculous amounts of workspaces created (by accident/purpose), reach out to that user, and either inform them the new process, or just remove it all together."
This is going to be a full time job!!
What does this mean?
"Our hope is this direction will be more flexible and ultimately map more closely to how our customers naturally get work done." Can you elaborate? Are you planning on getting rid of Sheets completely? And if yes, when? And if yes, will there still be a way to share someone to just a sheet?
I wonder, why is it Smartsheet is great at sending EA some things you're considering changing and having us test it and provide feedback, and then other times change blindsides us?

Meet Carson Penticuff, our April Member Spotlight! 🎉
*takes a deep breath* 2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate? It’s @Carson Penticuff, Community Champion and our April Member Spotlight! Read on to find out why he’s an all-around star and advocate for continuous learning, both on Community and off.
Carson lives in the US state of Kentucky, and works as a Project Management Specialist at Toyotetsu North America. When his company began migrating key systems to Smartsheet a few years ago, he read the documentation and realized that there were many other ways to utilize the product. Now, Carson says Smartsheet has become his go-to solution for simplifying complicated workflows and visualizing large datasets.
“One of my favorite features is the ease of linking and referencing data across multiple sheets and workspaces,” he says. “I have numerous reports that can be pulled into master dashboards in order to monitor data health and integrity. When I have a new metric that needs to be monitored, a new report can be built quickly and added to existing dashboards with only a few clicks, often adding new insight into existing data.”
With Smartsheet now a central part of his daily workflow, how did Carson ramp up his knowledge, eventually becoming a Community Champion? “Most of what I know about Smartsheet, I have learned from Community,” he says. “When I hit a knowledge roadblock, I am almost always able to find either a solution or a new approach with a quick search.”
Other than helping others and learning new Smartsheet releases and features, Carson has interests in many other areas, showing a curiosity and hunger for knowledge.
- He is currently studying Japanese, and hopes to one day hang out on that side of Community
- When he has spare time, he enjoys rewatching legacy science fiction TV shows from the 80s to the 2000s
- He is a retired competitive speedcuber (see photo above), and was a member of the US Nationals Organization Team for two years
Above all, Carson loves to spend time with his son. “Watching him grow up and show interest in the same activities I enjoyed at his age is like getting a second childhood,” he says.
Thank you Carson for all that you do!

Re: Trouble with IF statement and date format conversion
The text column would mean that nothing is considered a date and can't be used as a date in further calcs without added complexity to convert. If you leave it as a date type column, you can use
=IF(ISDATE([Date Column]@row), [Date Column]@row, DATE(VALUE(RIGHT([Date Column]@row, 4)), VALUE(LEFT([Date Column]@row, 2)), 1))

Re: Task totals across multiple plans & within a set timeframe
Hi @melissalk
You can create a metric sheet to count the number of tasks by department and month with formulas like these;
[January] =COUNTIFS({Task Name}, ISTEXT(@cell), {Task Type}, "Task", {Actual Start Date}, <=DATE(2023, 1, 31), {Actual End Date}, >=DATE(2023, 1, 1), {Department}, Department@row)
[February] =COUNTIFS({Task Name}, ISTEXT(@cell), {Task Type}, "Task", {Actual Start Date}, <=DATE(2023, 2, 28), {Actual End Date}, >=DATE(2023, 2, 1), {Department}, Department@row)
Note:
- ISTEXT(@cell) condion can be NOT(ISBLANK(@cell)).
- To determine if a task belongs to a month, for example, February 2023, you can use this condition;
- {Actual Start Date}, <=DATE(2023, 2, 28), {Actual End Date}, >=DATE(2023, 2, 1)
- The avove is an AND condition that works for a task spanning over a month.
- For example, if a task starts in January and ends in March, the task is counted as a February task.

Just wanted to @mention you in case you missed the solution above!
