Timeline View (Reports)
Hi,
Is there a plan to provide the option to manually re-order the swim lanes in timeline view? I am using a report that pulls from several sheets and it would be helpful to have this option without creating helper columns in each of the source sheet to do so.
Additionally it would be helpful to have the "fields shown" option available in reports too.

Yes, I did this but it is ugly, not a solution to my ask. I don't want to have to edit the sheet or sort order whenever I need to tweak the visual. I would like to be able to edit the Timeline picture - a workaround could be exporting to powerpoint so I can move them around for a specific report. Allow the ability to organize workspaces/put into folders
For those of us with many workspaces, it would be fantastic if we had the ability to organize them. Either have the ability to add folders to organize them or be able to move them up or down on our workspace list.
Allow system owners and system admins to view all assets
As one of the system admins, it is absurd to me that I cannot view or have access to all of the items created in my organization. We have over 11,000 reports, sheets, and dashboards and I can't see them. I have no visibility to if people are using our plan for their own personal use, or what kind of work is going on unless it is shared with me.
It would be great to have system owners and system admins be able to view all assets to monitor and secure the company plan.

Can you make a dropdown option dependent upon another drop down? Parent / child
Hi,
I am trying to setup 2 drop downs in a grid sheet. The user will select from the first dropdown (parent) A, B, C and based upon what they select i only want to show the corresponding options in the second dropdown (child).
So for A show 1, 2, or 3
For B show 4, 5, or 6
For C show 7, 8, or 9 .
Using a form is not an option. I am struggling to find a way to set this up. Any suggestions?

Separate Text and Number
It would be nice if the column type could be Text or Number. My Manager pulls data into PBI. Sometimes numbers show up as text when they are actually numbers.
If this is something I can do on my own, please let me know.

Allow Managed resources a view only access to schedules
Resource management for smartsheet is a great tool for resource managers, but individual contributors do not have visibility of their own or their colleagues workload in a visual way as per the legacy view.
Our team will often work internally to resolve deadline clashes or over allocation and this is made difficult when managed resources cannot access the schedule view, or see a full picture of capacity in the resource management panel.
Allow early completion of tasks to effect available hours in RM
Our design team often complete tasks earlier than scheduled and although the task in the plan or timeline will be set to complete, there is no way to see that the individual now has additional availability without changing dates within the plan. We don't want this to effect subsequent tasks or dates, just flag as a visual on the schedule view so we can have an accurate picture of availability.
Allow Mandatory (Required) Fields in Update Requests Triggered by Automation
Currently, when using Automation to send Update Requests, there is no way to enforce mandatory (required) fields for users completing the request. This creates data quality issues, as users can submit incomplete updates, even when certain fields are critical.
Proposed Enhancement
Add the ability to mark specific fields as mandatory within an Update Request generated by an Automation workflow.
- Admins/builders should be able to select which fields are required
- Users should not be able to submit the update unless those fields are completed
- This setting should apply only to the Update Request (not necessarily the column’s global validation)
Business Use Case
- Ensuring required status updates, dates, or approval fields are always completed
- Reducing follow-up emails and manual data validation
- Improving data accuracy for reporting, dashboards, and downstream automations
Current Workarounds
- Manual review and follow-ups
- Additional automations to detect blanks
- Training users to complete fields (not reliable)
Impact
This enhancement would significantly improve data integrity, automation reliability, and user accountability, especially for enterprise-scale workflows and governance-heavy environments.
