Re: Resource Views vs. Resource Management
It should also be pointed out that the new Resource Management offering comes at an additional cost that is not insignificant
📚 New Onboarding Resource: The Smartsheet Essentials Glossary
Hi everyone - I’m Madison, a Product Marketer here at Smartsheet. I’m focused on onboarding and helping new users feel confident using the product from day one.
We just released something I’m really excited about: the Essentials Glossary. It’s a simple guide that breaks down the core Smartsheet terms and capabilities new users need to know to get started. It’s meant to make those early steps a little less overwhelming.
I know most of you don’t need this for yourselves - you’re already pros. But if you ever onboard new colleagues, this is a great resource to share. Would love to hear what you think, and if there are any other resources you'd find helpful when onboarding others.
You can check it out here.

Re: Modified Date column not working
@Kari G I'd actually have thought the current functionality is how it always should have worked, when you save as new those are new row's / row id's so the metadata on those new rows should commensurately reset. You're options are
1. Use an automation to hard log a date column for created date
2. Resolve scale issues, would need to know more about the use case for this but in general if you are constantly hitting scale limits the solution likely needs to be updated / rearchitected
3. Wait for table view to get full support for all functionality as this will bump all limits up

Automatically Sync Reports When a Source Sheet is Renamed
Feature Request: Automatically Sync Reports When a Source Sheet is Renamed in Smartsheet
When a report is grouped or sorted by Sheet Name, renaming a source sheet doesn't immediately update the report. The new name only appears after a change is made and saved in the sheet. Until then, the report continues to display the old sheet name, which can lead to confusion and inaccurate sorting.
Current Workaround (Manual & Time-Consuming):
To reflect the new sheet name in the report:
- Open each source sheet.
- Make a small edit (e.g., change a date or note).
- Save the sheet.
- Check the report for updates.
- Undo the edit and save again.
For teams managing dozens or hundreds of sheets, this process can take hours.
Why This Matters:
- It disrupts workflows.
- It introduces risk of human error.
- It wastes valuable time.
The Ask:
If enough users support this request, Smartsheet can prioritize a feature that automatically syncs renamed sheets in reports, eliminating the need for manual edits.
Upvote this request if you'd like to see smarter, faster syncing in Smartsheet reports.

Re: Pulling a List of Names to a Preferred Contact List
Hi @Vivien Chong , thanks for your message. I believe transparency is key in support channels like this. If you have something valuable to offer, it would be more helpful to share it openly here rather than asking people to reach out privately. That way, everyone can benefit from the information and decide if it’s relevant to their needs. I’d appreciate it if we could keep the conversation public and focused on support rather than solicitation. Thanks!

Re: Are you planning to upgrade to Jira v10 in the near future?
All, I would also encourage everyone to "Vote" for the issues as well as comment on it with the impact to your organization. You can Vote by going to the issue here (Atlassian bug in v10, JRASERVER-78833) and choosing "More" at the top of the page and select vote. Your "Votes" will increase the "Affected Customers" which at this point is only 13.
Re: Filter columns
Reports can be exhaustive if there is a mass of views required.. it would be most helpful to have better functionality on column management and filtering within sheets.

Re: Document Builder - Generating documents removing formatting
Hi,
I have the same issue, did we find a solution?
In smartsheets, my formula with Char(10) is wrapped and displays correctly in the column. However in the PDF, the line return doesn't work and it is separated by a space instead. The PDF fields are not copy/pasted and the name does not contain #. Thank you for your help!
Document Builder - Generating documents removing formatting
Hello,
I'm fairly new to Smartsheet and have been learning as I go.
The issue I am encountering is that when I Generate a document into a fillable PDF, I lose my line breaks and everything gets compressed into one paragraph.
I have multi-line enabled for the PDF fields and have tried both Ctrl + Enter and CHAR(10) in the formula that is compiling the the data. Everything looks great in Smartsheet, but the PDF is missing the line breaks.
I tried my best to research, but I can't seem to figure this out.
Thank you for your help!
