Calling all Everyday Heroes - What is your superpower?
Have you all seen the latest "action figure trend" on social media? Well, I had to seize the opportunity. In case you haven't made one yet, head over to ChatGPT and create your very own blister pack, action figure. The trick is to be very specific on with the description. Once you're done, head on over here and share it with us. The challenge is that you have to come and tell us what your ONE Smartsheet Superpower would be.
Delivering solutions makes me feel like a hero. ๐ฆธโโ๏ธThereโs something truly rewarding about helping others overcome obstacles, transform the way they work, and unlock their potential.
Itโs even better when those solutions empower other heroes to shine in their roles. Thatโs the magic of what we do at Prodactive โ real impact, real transformation. If i had to choose a single superpower it would be Dashboards! I love creating things that are visually attractive, while functional and accurate.
What would your superpower be? @Will Jeffords @Michelle Basson @Michelle Choate 2 @Alison C. @Darla Brown @Philip Robbins @Rebeca S. @Paul Newcome Feel free to issue this little challenge along to other Everyday Heroes ;-)

WorkApp Customization Option Through Control Center
With the shift to the licensing model, which restricts internal users from editing tools from within a workspace, our organization has moved towards using WorkApps in their place; we also use Control Center to spin up projects based on pre-defined templates. In practice, we require up to 3 separate roles depending on the scope of work, and when selecting the templates in WorkApps, we switch on/off the sheets (as they are able to be considered optional) but must manually delete the reports from our blueprint created workspace. This has worked thus far, but we've learned that WorkApps are not as flexible - the predefined tools in the blueprint are carried through into the WorkApp, regardless of if they appear in the Workspace (if they're manually deleted from the Workspace, the user sees an error in the WorkApp side of things which is not ideal). Also, when manually creating a WorkApp, you're able to modify a role name, and also the customize the appearance of the project tile, bookmark icon, and other features within the app - you cannot do these things through the blueprint created WorkApp, and you must access the blueprint WorkApp via the Portfolio WorkApp and/or a link - this is less than ideal for outside stakeholders, and also makes things much harder to find (rather than going to the WorkApp platform and seeing an project-specific image, it is somewhat buried).
Idea:
- Make WorkApps customizable depending on the blueprint specified tools. Similar to the option of (de)-selecting tools in the bluepring, the WorkApp should also have this capability.
- Determine where the WorkApp 'resides'. Similar to either creating a new Workspace or an existing one when spinning up a project in control center, there should be the ability to determine where the WorkApp may be accessed - either through the Portfolio space, or the standard WorkApp landing page.
- The ability to create new roles with permissions exceeding those in the blueprint; and the ability to modify role names (ie, if placeholders appear in the blueprint that are intended to be updated) once the Workapp is created from the blueprint.
- The ability to modify project items that are currently locked when created from the blueprint.
- The ability to customize the view of the WorkApp, up to and including the default page view, the bookmark icon, and other customizable features within the WorkApp itself.
By making the WorkApp more user-friendly and customizable, we can treat there is much more fluidity between the Workspace and WorkApp tools that are generated from Control Center.
Re: New streamlined creation experience
I stumbled across this new functionality today and came straight to the Community to ask questions which I did in this post. Thank you @Isis Taylor for guiding me to this post!
The inability to move any items into the Sheets directory, or to create new items there, is something I just can't comprehend. It would be great if there was a warning about this. Also it would be helpful if the reason(s) would be explained. Instead of just saying "streamlining", tell us how it's streamlining and better than what we had before. What problem(s) or challenge(s) did this solve for?
I've been introducing and training people on adopting and using Smartsheet for 4 years now. And now there's an update that I don't agree with, frustrates me to pieces, and I will be bombarded with questions and concerns from countless users across my organization because of. How am I supposed to explain this change and convince people (change management style) that it's for the better? Help me help them! At least explain what challenge(s) this solved for, so I can have something to speak to and convince others with.
I don't want more and more workspaces used for testing grounds. I already have workspaces for that in addition to my Sheets directory. It makes my workspace list longer, and it's already insanely long to begin with as they can't even be grouped for organizational benefits.
Will individually shared Sheets still appear in the Sheets directory?

Re: New streamlined creation experience
Adding my downvote to this as well. Maybe there is a strong backend reason on Smartsheet's behalf for this change? From a user experience standpoint, I can see no benefit at all. Moving sheets into workspaces was already trivial. I have added a "sheets" workspace that will not be shared with anyone to replace the default sheets location. This isn't a huge inconvenience, but it is a minor inconvenience with no perceivable benefit to the end user.

Re: Is Microsoft killing the Outlook Add-in?
Thank you @Genevieve P. - We've activated our Legacy Tokens until June - Let's hope there's a way to keep this type of functionality alive, post-June.

Customize "someone has mentioned you in a comment" email
Hi,
The automatic email that comes when someone tags you in a comment could be opened for customization to include other fields from that row. It would be helpful in case there are other workflows that modify the row (e.g. moving it to a different sheet).
Thanks.
Re: Cascading Forms Dropdowns
Agreed! This is much need. For a comapny-wide competition, I want to use Smartsheets to collect votes. I want to make it so that if someone selects their department in Dropdown 1, they can't also vote for their own Department in Dropdown 2, because that field would not appear. Is that currently possible?
Re: Cascading Forms Dropdowns
@Cleversheet , in the end I did go that route and seperated out into 2 fields with the subset selection being different for each and just skipped putting it all into one field. The smartsheet in question has alot of fields and i was trying to keep the data all in one field. We have 2 forms for different purposes but the selections where all in that one field so i was hoping i could just filter instead of adding new.
Re: Cascading Forms Dropdowns
DocuSign, Laserfiche, Excel, OpenOffice/LibreOffice Web plugisn, AirTable, FastForms, JotForms, SurveyJS, Monday, Formstack, Connecteam, Trello, Asana, Atlasstian, Jira, ServiceNow, and many more now support this.
Smartsheet is now the sole Project Management software on the market that doesn't have this support. It could've been the first, when this request was submitted. Now, it's the last.
