Re: April Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
This is my business Card holder, which is Glass and Engraves (I love personalized stuff). With the BC holder are my personal business cards, which I use for networking. And in the pre-Covid times, I left a card with each in-person interview. I have an MBA, and I know MANY of you also do, but I went to school late in life, AA completed 2009, BS completed 2011, and MBA completed 2019. It was a huge struggle, but I made it happen, and my career is better for the education, despite the long hours, hard work, and cost. The BC holder/and Business Cards remind me of that struggle to make myself better.

Re: How to move certain columns only from one master sheet to another sheet
I wish we could. I also have a master sheet that's changing often - I would love an automation to copy specific columns to a new sheet for a row when a condition is met so that additional steps can be taken with that data. Maybe one day they'll update the automation feature.
Re: Formula for calculating the Monday before a date?
Try this one?
=IF([Ready]@row=1, (IF(Location@row = "Headquarters", IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 2, [Start Date]@row - 7, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 3, [Start Date]@row - 1, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 4, [Start Date]@row - 2, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 5, [Start Date]@row - 3, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 6, [Start Date]@row - 4, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 7, [Start Date]@row - 5, [Start Date]@row - 6)))))), IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 1, [Start Date]@row - 2, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 2, [Start Date]@row - 3, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 3, [Start Date]@row - 4, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 5, [Start Date]@row - 6, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 4, [Start Date]@row - 5, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 6, [Start Date]@row - 7, IF(WEEKDAY([Start Date]@row) = 7, [Start Date]@row - 1, "Error"))))))))),"Not Ready")
If this doesnt work, what error do you get?

Re: Why can't I move sheets to folders or workspaces if I am the owner of everything
Hi there,
I have the same issue with reports:
When I drag&drop a report into a (sub)folder, SmartSheet tells me, that the action is provibited due to missing access rights. However, I'm listed as the owner of the report as well as the containing folder and the receiving folder. When trying to use Devins approach, SmartSheet pops the same message at me.
Effectively I'm not able to move the report (or any item that is). I can delete it though.
Can you provide some clues? Thank you for your support.
Locking down an individual column to only allow one user to edit the column
We would like to lock down an individual column to only allow one user to edit the column. Unfortunately, we have several people updating the smartsheet and we would like to lock down the columns to the individuals that should be entering in the data. This will allow us to make that person responsible for their column.
Re: New streamlined creation experience
@Ray Lindstrom I figured so, but was also hoping that my coffee hadn't kicked in and I was just missing it! π
Appreciate the confirmation, hopefully we can at least get the option back.
Refresh System when New Sheet is Created so that Automations Can Find Them
Whenever I create a new sheet using the "+Add" button in Workspace view, I have to wait quite a while for anything in the "Automation" menu search to see it. EG, when I need to setup an automation to "Move" a row, it asks me to search for the referenced sheet but it takes a while to appear. Refreshing doesn't change it. I assume it's Indexing the search.
My request is #1 but #2 would work also:
- Force the system to refresh in the background (or index the search) immediately, whenever a new item is created so that the automation can add the sheet immediately instead of waiting a few minutes.
- Alternatively, you could change the method of selecting the destination sheet to include more than a search bar, which is VERY restrictive. If we could browse, it would be easy to find the file and not need it to be indexed by search.

Re: New streamlined creation experience
Did this update also include the removal of creation of additional folders within the main "Sheets" repository?
I agree with the commenters above. Workspaces were created to add more functionality and organization for multiple sheets/reports/etc. that the user wished to share with a specific group of people, or to categorize themselves. Now, users are unable to create a new sheet as a one-off without it immediately requiring and creating a new workspace. The list of workspaces will quickly become cluttered with many of them now being used to house one-off, testing, or other types of sheets.
I echo @Ray Lindstrom that this change without heads up will make it more difficult to teach and train folks within my organization, as I also help out with product adoption in my company. For folks without organizational management skills, their workspaces will soon look like an unmanaged "Documents" library within Windows File Explorer. I like Ray's attitude of "help me help them" as many people within our community want to be excited and share details and positives around updates.
As @Carson Penticuff said above, there is kind of a workaround by creating a general "Sheets" workspace, but I agree with him that this is just an added step without a discernable advantage for the user.
Could there be a scenario where the auto-creation of new workspaces becomes optional? For myself and many other users, a portion of our work is solo and doesn't require collaboration. For items that do, workspaces are a great way to keep everything organized. However, for the items that don't, the general Sheets repository alongside category folders already works well.
