Leading Zero in DD-Mon-YYYY
Can there be an option to enable the front Zero for the date format 27-Apr-2018?
Right now it will show only a single digit for days 1-9, and the Zero is needed to make the numbers unambiguous. (I didn't make this rule, just have to follow it.)
Provide a way to limit access to trials and evaluations to administrators only
Allowing any random employee to initiate a trial or evaluation of a product is really dumb, and there's no way to prevent it. This is both a policy violation and a liability for the company.
Please fix this huge limitation, even though it will interfere with the upselling gravy train.
Things like this are among the reasons I am actively opposed to the use of Smartsheet in our business.
DataTable connection error: "User error: Sheet not found"
I have a sheet that connects to a Data Table and has worked without any problems for a long time (6+ months of daily refreshing). All of a sudden I see this error. I open the sheet (which has not been deleted or moved) and I see the error in the attached screenshot in the DT connection. Which sheet is being referred to that can't be found? Clearly the sheet exists. Anyone have any ideas?
Re: Third option for Approval Workflows
Yes, we wanted to have a third option recently in a workflow we created, "Approve" "Decline" "Counter Offer". It would be nice if you can add the ability to add additional buttons in these instances and allow the workflow to have additional paths for each button.
Re: Third option for Approval Workflows
I'm trying to set up a Smartsheet for collecting information for new stock items.
I've got Form to collect the Data and then it gets sent to an Approver to check the Information.
I'd like Approver to be able to have the three Options but we are currently limited to two.
Approve - Yes we are stocking
Reject - No we are not stopping
Modify - We might stock but need more information.
I can set this up by using an Update request, Displaying the Form Data with Dynamic Placeholders and having a Dropdown with the Approve/Reject/Modify options. It works but is not as good as an Approval Workflow.
Re: Third option for Approval Workflows
Agree. This is painful and forces us to use teams instead.
Re: Restore data deleted from a sheet in Smarsheets
You Can recover recently deleted data from a sheet in Smartsheet. Here are a few method you can try:
Activity Log: Check the Activity Log to see if you can find the deleted data. You can request a Snapshot from the Activity Log, which will send an Excel file to your email containing the lost data
Deleted Items: If the entire sheet was deleted, you can recover it from the Deleted Items section. Navigate to the left sidebar, select Browse, scroll to the bottom, and choose Deleted Items. Right-click the item and select Undelete
Filters: Sometimes data might appear missing due to active filters. Ensure that no filters are hiding the rows you are looking for
Backups: If you have automatic backups set up, you might be able to restore the sheet from a recent backup
Re: Resource Management - Dynamic Report workaround
Yes, you're right—Smartsheet Control Center currently enforces a
The hard limit is 50 dynamic scope reports (DSRs) per blueprint, which can be quite restrictive for organizations that are managing large portfolios.
- RM is not a full replacement for dynamic reports. It’s best used for resourcing and capacity planning, not detailed project tracking or custom reporting.
Other Workarounds to Consider
- Rollup Sheets + Dashboards:
- Use summary rollup sheets to aggregate key data across projects.
- Display filtered views in dashboards instead of separate reports.
- Segmented Blueprints:
- Split your blueprint into smaller ones by department or region to get additional DSR allocations.
- Portfolio WorkApps:
- If you're using Portfolio WorkApps, you can create custom roles and pages that simulate report views without using DSRs.

Dynamic view, request editable option in table or Sheet view permission by rows
Hi, I'm looking for a way to restrict the view of a sheet so that each user only sees the rows where they are assigned. I know this can be done using Dynamic View, but I want users to be able to update multiple rows directly in the sheet, without having to open each row individually in a form.
I also understand that I can create reports to that respective user and share the report, but the main sheet I am using is updated automatically via excel and we don't know when a new user will be added, so making report for all user is not a feasible option.
Here's the situation:
- I have a sheet with columns for Resource Manager, their Assignees, and Assignment Hours for next week.
- I want to send this sheet to each Resource Manager so they can fill in the hours for their own team members.
- Each Resource Manager should only see and edit the rows assigned to them, directly in the sheet —not through individual forms.
Is there a way to filter or restrict the view in a report based on the current user, so they only see their own rows?
Re: Dynamic Filter on Dashboards
In reviewing some of my requests, I am surprised that there is so little engagement on this request as it comes up so often in conversation when building dashboards for clients. When it comes to data visualization and the use of dashboards, so many people ask for the ability to use Slicers and dropdowns to view information that is on the dashboard. Especially when it comes to monthly progress reports, financial performance or even just comparing updates between months
I wish there was a way for us to add more tags to a post
