Can someone explain WorkApps to me? I just dont get it.
I am trying to understand the "why" behind WorkApps. At my first glance, it just seems redundant. I am clearly missing the point. I have not been able to find a video or article about the benefit of using it? Can anyone recommend a learning resource and maybe a case study or two? Thanks in advance. Jef

Hi @Jef Forward
I hope you're well and safe!
My 2 cents.
- Separate role-based access structure. (can have access in WorkApps without the need to be shared to assets in native Smartsheet)
- A role-based structure can be confined differently, so if you're, for example, an Admin, you'd like to see everything, but if you're a manager, you want to see the most relevant information.
- You can share reports using Current User so the viewer only can see what you've configured they should have access to.
- They don't need to see everything in Smartsheet except what they need.
- It looks like an App.
- Can have multiple apps for different purposes, processes, and so on.
- It can be customized with branding
- And much more
I'll get back to the post with more information later.
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!
Best,

@Jef Forward I had the same knee-jerk reaction.
To emphasize one point on @Andrée Starå 's list that drove it home for me: They don't need to see everything in Smartsheet except what they need.
When I build smartsheet applications, I usually build dashboards backed up by reports and supporting metrics sheets, etc. But if my people need to see only 1 sheet for data entry and the associated dashboard, I can drop just those into a WorkApp and give them access to that. I don't want them to play around with any of the other reports and sheets.

Hello Andre' and Rayn - thank you so much for your help. This has given me a lot to think about. I have been wanting to create a client portal, and this very well could be the best solution, even more than the dynamic view. Thanks, Jef
