Update Alert Sent on Start Date or End Date Column

I have a suggestion on improving update request. Currently you have two ways you can send an update request. You can either send it now or you can have it delivered on a specific date. Could there be a field that it deliveries on the actual start date or the end date? This way if the start date or end date gets updated the alert is automatically updated.
