Copying a row without sub-rows

I'm trying to easily capture completed project data by copying a single row's data to another sheet so I can run reports off that new sheet's data. HOWEVER, the automation to copy rows copies all the indented rows with it... I'd like to just copy the data from the single row. Is that possible? Does somebody have a workaround that doesn't capture all the sub-rows?

    Hi @Mike Wilday

I hope you're well and safe!

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.

To connect them row by row, you'd use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row id on as many rows as you think you need in the Destination sheet.

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

@Andrée Starå Thanks for this solution, but I am currently working with 20 separate projects that could increase or decrease at any time on demand, and new projects spin up all the time. I need to keep the process less manual. I can't feasibly add a new index/match to point to a new sheet each time a new project sheet gets created. Do I understand correctly?

I determined at this point to send me a slack message whenever a new row gets added, and then I will manually just copy and paste that row's values and delete the row containing all the indents.
