Cell Linking to Blank Sheets

Is there a workaround to set up cell linking to a blank sheet? I want to set up templates so that, for instance, when a client name is entered in a field, it populates other sheets (similar to an = cell reference in Excel). But, when I try to set this up, I receive a message stating you cannot reference a blank sheet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You only need to "activate" the cell(s), and you can do that by adding color to them.
