Submitter (Created By) Showing as Web-Form

Hi -- we have a sheet we are using by sending the link to the form to all employees. They manually enter their email address in the form. The issue is when the form is submitted the workflow automation doesn't work because created by is a web-form.

The email from the email address column that was entered by the employee is not selectable in the workflow automation.

How do I create a workflow for a column that is an email address but not a "contact"?

Hi @AirlineDataGuy

You should be able to do this by having a contact field in your sheet that is where the user inputs the email address on the form. It will come to the sheet as an appropriate address and you can use the field in a workflow instead of the created by information.

To add to DKazatsky's excellent advice/answer.

If you change the Form so they have to be logged in, you'll get the submitter's information in the Created By and can then use it to trigger workflows and similar.

Has there been a solution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same problem. I created a data shuttle to push and pull user names and emails into a dropdown selection within the form submission. I expected the "Created by" field to capture the user's name or the selected contact from the dropdown list labeled "Champion." Unfortunately, this isn't working as intended. Is there an alternative way to achieve this? I rely on the "Created by" and "Modified by" columns in my PowerBI dashboard for board reporting. @Andrée Starå
