Secondary Logic in Forms
Does anyone know if there is a way to use secondary logic in forms? Basically we are trying to have three drop downs, first is the supervisor where they go in and select their name, once they select their name we want the next drop down to only include their employees, and then the third is approve or deny. So far all I can get it to do is...if Supervisor is then show employee but want employee to be specific to that supervisor, so out of 147 employees the supervisor might only have 10 of them.
Simply put...If supervisor is this then employee is this...

Hi @CaraBart28
I hope you're well and safe!
You would have to add multiple so-called helper columns (one for each option) and then have Logic show the correct one.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Hi @Andrée Starå,
I am trying to picture what this would look like? The information gathered from the form is then displayed in the sheet as you see below. What would the helper column look like for this?

Just checking back in to see if you would be able to provide me with a little more information on what the helper column would look like that you mentioned in your previous reply.
Thank you,
Cara

@Genevieve P. wondering if you might be able to help me out. Andree indicated a helper column might work for this, however I am not sure how that would look for this particular need.

Hi @CaraBart28
There currently isn't a way in Smartsheet to have a secondary dropdown list be conditional based on what was selected in the first list, as you've found. Please feel free to add your Vote and comment to this Product Idea thread: Dynamic dropdowns - Waterfall request
What @Andrée Starå is referring to is to add individual columns per supervisor that only shows their specific employees. Then you can use conditional logic in your form to show the relevant column based on the Supervisor selection.
For example:
Supervisor Column: Genevieve / Andrée / Cara
then 3 separate columns:
Genevieve's Employees: Joe / Annabelle
Andrée's Employees: James / Ezra / Luke
Cara's Employees: Rosanna / Nick
Does that make sense?
Cheers,
Genevieve
