Reports summary (SUM) not working propertly

Hi All,

I have an issue with reports on Smartsheet.

We have a file with hours repository that is getting filled in on a daily basis by all team members. I am trying to generate a report showing hours logged by each team member in the last 7 days.

I have grouped it per team member name and as a summary

I chose to sum hours spent. For some reason, it is not working the way it should and not adding up the numbers correctly (please see the screenshot).

Would you know why it does it and if there is an easy fix for that please?

Try adding in a helper column and using a VALUE function to ensure that the data is being stored as actual numeric values. Then sum up this column in your report.

It looks like some of the data is being stored as text values. How exactly is that column populated in the source sheet?
